Looking Back

You may or may not (more likely the latter) have been wondering what I've been up to for the past two months. By chance that you've been curious, this post was made solely to soothe your aching mind. To say that these past two months have been eventful would be an understatement. I'm overwhelmed just thinking about them, so this is my attempt at a structured recap of the most memorable bits.

When I heard that Laura Marling was going on tour, I was there without skipping a beat. I fell in love with her music a few years back and I'd been dying to see her since. Ms. Marling, at only a year older than myself, is easily one of my biggest inspirations for putting pen to paper as of late.

Over the course of five days I traveled to DC, Philadelphia, and New York City to see some of my favorite gents, The Horrors. I couldn't be happier with the results. I, uh, shrieked in excitement the entire way home after picking up my film. And, uh, shrieked a little more when I scanned the photos. And, uh, I still still get a goofy grin on my face whenever I go through them. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

Excuse the cellphone photo, but it's all about the content with this one because those are two front row tickets to see my main man Ryan Adams in Baltimore in LESS THAN TWO MONTHS with none other than my mom at my side. After a series of nearly tragic events, I snagged these (along with a lone ticket for the Philadelphia show) for an excessively pretty penny, more like a GORGEOUS penny, a BREATHTAKING penny (i.e. the only things in my kitchen are ramen noodles, tea, and an orange). The first step is admitting you have a problem. No matter the monetary cost, the evening will be undoubtedly priceless.

Speaking of Baltimore, just two weeks ago I made the charming city my home. I'm still in the process of settling into my new place, a glimpse of which is pictured above, but I couldn't ask for a more perfect apartment. The move came about pretty suddenly and I'm so thankful to everyone who made it possible. I plan to update with photos once I've made some major progress. I'm currently living like a complete slob being swallowed by giant bags of trash. Gross, right? Yeah, I'm working on it...

Since having moved into the city, I've also had the awesome opportunity to follow and get involved in Occupy Baltimore, a local offshoot of Occupy Wall Street. I strongly encourage everyone to get involved with your city's Occupy community (and if your city doesn't have one, be the creator!), or at the very least, get informed (Occupy Together is a great hub for all things Occupy). I think it's so important to be heard and to be a part of something bigger than yourself, aside from the Internet, and this is truly revolutionary.
